Nobody moves to New York City to be a “neighbor.” In fact, despite the love of shows like Friends or Seinfeld across generations, which center rich relationships amongst neighbors, most New Yorkers have a hard time naming those who live in their building or around the corner.
Now, perhaps more than ever, we realize how necessary and life-giving it is to be in relationship with those most proximate to us.
At Neighbor, our goal is to provide the space and opportunities for neighbors to meet and connect, for their own well-being and the flourishing of the neighborhood. Some of the ways Neighbor has been used to do this so far are hosting neighborhood boards, art exhibitions, listening parties, religious communities, children’s reading circles, and co-working space – and we hope to add many more.
